Choosing a vehicle

How we choose the van for your load

The right van has to fit the goods and allow safe loading. The number of pallets alone is not enough. We also need dimensions, weight and details of the collection point.

Choosing a vehicle

Two body types, two ways of loading.

Renault Master curtainsider from the group fleet, number plates removed

Curtainsider van

Palletised goods and larger items. The curtain body gives easier access to the load space.

Renault Master panel van from the group fleet, number plates removed

Panel van

Goods protected in a closed load space, loaded through the rear or side door.

GVW and payload

Gross vehicle weight covers the van together with its load. A 3.5 t GVW van cannot carry 3.5 t of goods. The permitted payload depends on the specific vehicle and body, so we check it for every job.

Panel van: a closed space

With a panel van, what counts is the internal space and the door opening. Give us the largest dimensions of every piece and how it is moved. A tall or wide load may need a different body, even when it is light.

Curtainsider: easier access

A curtainsider body makes the load easier to reach. The loading and unloading method is still agreed for the specific van. Telling us about a dock, a forklift or side access helps us pick the right option.

What we need from you

Number of pieces, length, width and height of each unit and the total weight. Mark whether the goods can be stacked. A photo or packing list helps explain unusual shapes and how the load is secured.
